St. Tammany Parish I-12 Corridor
St. Tammany Parish provides a well-educated and skilled workforce, a high quality of life, a variety of great housing options, a growing population, and proximity to a variety of technology assets -- including NASA Stennis Space Center, NASA Michoud Assembly Facility, and the University of New Orleans' Technology and Research Park being built in Slidell.
These and other assets make St. Tammany a good location for aerospace and defense manufacturing and other technology companies (due to the location in the parish of the region's Technology Corridor); for major corporate headquarters, particularly for the energy industry (given the presence of the corporate headquarters for the Chevron Energy Company among many others); and for other businesses that serve as suppliers to the energy industry.
Furthermore, in late 2007, STEDF, in collaboration with all groups of the I-12 Alliance, embarked in third-party research to determine the region and the parish's primary assets directly related to the community's place in the global economy and the strategic growth already poised for prosperity.
The formal research item can be downloaded here, however, in summary, St. Tammany Parish was determined to be incredibly well suited for companies of the following industries:
- International Trade
- Energy
- Material Suppliers
- Logistics & Distribution
- Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing
